This article describes the process of batch-uploading samples based on a CSV file.

  1. Navigate to Batch Upload tool. From the Datasets view, click + Batch Upload in the Quick Actions menu.

  2. You will be uploading a CSV file with specific, pre-defined fields that are custom to your pipeline. Make sure you are in the correct pipeline context for the samples you want to upload by confirming the pipeline name at the top right of your screen.

  3. Click the helper text below the upload field to display a list of columns to be included in your upload file, as well as a set of templated Starter Files.

Depending on your use case, some of these columns can be omitted. The description column for each header will indicate whether it can be omitted. In most cases, you should download a Starter File and use that as the basis for your upload.

    The available Starter Files are:

    • Standard - contains all standard fields, including file locations.

    • Standard w/ Existing Children - contains all standard fields for the parent sample, and columns to reference existing sample IDs rather than creating child samples based on new data.

    • Non-Analysis Samples - contains the bare minimum to create parent samples, with no files linked. These cannot be used for analysis but are useful for batch offline-upload scenarios.

    • All Columns - contains all possible columns, including advanced use cases.

  4. Download a Starter File or create a new CSV file with the appropriate headers. Create one row for each sample you wish to upload. For preset values, fill down the value for each row. See the field guide on the upload page for additional details.

  5. Click Submit. Your samples will upload in the background!
