Viewing and exploring individual result sets, called Resultsources (the outputs from executing a Datasource on a particular workflow version), is one of the key activities for data review and curation. This article describes how to use the Resultsource view to efficiently explore and process data.

Elements

The Results Table

All results for this Resultsource will be displayed in the All Results table, provided that they meet the applied filters and are not under Triage.

The available columns for this table will correspond to your pipeline's results configuration and are generated from parsing and processing the raw results outputted from your pipeline. You may choose to re-order these columns and hide or show them depending on your current needs and personal preferences.

To hide or show columns in real-time, click Show/Hide Columns from the Quick Actions menu. Click the column name to toggle its visibility. To save these visibility settings as your preferred default, click the save button. Otherwise, to use these visibility settings only temporarily, close the modal and continue working.

To re-order the columns, click Modify Column Settings from the Quick Actions menu. Drag the column names into your preferred order and click Save to update your settings (the page will refresh with your new settings). You may also add or remove visible columns by using the X marks and the dropdown selector on this field. These will not change visibility in realtime; for this, use Show/Hide Columns as described above.

To modify a column's width, use the size toggle icons in the column header to toggle between full-width view and condensed view. These controls will automatically show when you hover over the header name.

The Triage Table

The triage table contains results that you are bookmarking for later review, sharing with a collaborator, in the process of curating, or otherwise want to collect and save. It has the same columns as the All Results table and will apply your default column ordering and visibility settings.

The File Display

The File Display is an interactive viewer specific to your application and your custom configuration. It displays visual data relevant to your decision-making in the process of curation or review. For example, this display may contain an IGV browser view of input BAM files or a rendering of a PDF output. Depending on your configuration and application, the display view may be static or may be responsive to your curation and results navigation.

The Filter Pane

The filter pane allows you to specify a base inclusion filter using the query bar (using the Query Language). You can also include or exclude specific result tags by choosing them from the dropdowns. Submit your filter to apply it.

You may also choose to negate your filter, for example if you are doing a multi-step curation or have the need for a complex "or"-based querying.

Further filtering can be done within the tables using the column filters or the Search feature.

Review and Curate

Row Actions

The following actions are available for any row in the All Results and Triage Results tables:

  • View the corresponding curation display for the row by clicking on it. If applicable, the File Display will jump to the relevant view for that result.

  • Move a row into or out of Triage by double clicking the row.

  • Curate by changing the Status using the icon buttons and adding and removing Tags.

  • Share or get further details by right-clicking.

Batch Actions

Use multi-selection to apply batch actions to items in the All Results or Triaged Results table. You can select all / filtered results shown in the table by clicking the checkbox at the top of the column. Alternatively, you can select or deselect rows individually using their checkboxes. The menu to batch move and batch add tags/curations will display when you have selected >=1 rows using the checkboxes.

Multi-selection is only available in Curation Mode.
